Student Project, 2004
Aran knitwear is known worldwide, and is seen as being intrinsically Irish. However, Irish people themselves typically associate the clothing with “American Tourists” and/or older people. The roots, tradition and history behind the knitwear still remain Irish, and my aim with this project was to re-consider the Irish market for new Aran products.
Aran Accessories combines traditional knitting patterns and modern prints on fabrics. Together the knitted and printed patterns make up new meanings that can be customised to the person wearing the accessory.
